Getting Started

Evil School drops you into a ten-year cold case without a traditional tutorial level. You play as Gu Panqing, the younger sister of Gu Panyu, who vanished in 2018 after three days trapped in an equipment-room cage by campus bullies. Eight years later, Panqing returns with a blood-stained list — and you decide how far revenge goes. This guide covers everything before your first major branch.

Install the demo first

The free Evil School Demo became available on Steam February 14, 2026. Search “Evil School Demo” or use the link from our Official Links Hub. The demo requires roughly 40 GB storage — identical to the full game — because FMV assets stream from local files. Allow time for the download before a session.

Full release arrives August 14, 2026 on Windows and macOS. If you only wishlist today, you can still complete meaningful content in the demo: Chapter 1 is fully playable, while Chapters 2–6 appear as previews under two minutes each.

Story setup in sixty seconds

In 2018, bullies Li Manting and Zhang Yao imprisoned Gu Panyu in a school equipment room. Security footage showed her leaving campus Monday — then nothing. Authorities accepted the narrative; power buried the truth. Panqing later decoded her sister’s bullying notebook and named the perpetrators. She did not come back for closure alone — she came to hunt.

You are not a passive viewer. CineGame Interactive calls this a mastermind fantasy: track clues, eavesdrop, and plan trials. Read Gu Panqing and Gu Panyu Mystery for character context before deep choices.

FMV controls and interface

Evil School follows standard FMV conventions:

  • Left-click or Space advances dialogue when prompts appear.
  • Branch icons pause playback until you select an option — there is no timer unless the scene explicitly warns you.
  • Mouse hover highlights interactive hotspots during investigation segments.
  • Esc opens pause menu with save, load, and settings.

There is no action combat. Tension comes from dialogue tone, evidence discovery, and trial preparation. If you miss a clickable clue, the scene may end without a second pass — save before investigations, as detailed in Clue Hunting.

  1. Watch the opening montage without skipping — names and dates matter for later cross-examination.
  2. Enter campus as Panqing and note who recognizes her versus who pretends not to.
  3. Collect notebook fragments when prompted; they unlock trial options in Trial Mechanism.
  4. Reach the first judgment fork — aggression versus restraint here seeds different Demo Endings.
  5. Save in three slots minimum before experimenting with Li Manting or Zhang Yao confrontations.

Difficulty and content warnings

Steam lists violence, blood, killing, and limited nudity. The anti-bullying theme includes psychological cruelty. Developers note some AI-assisted shots and voiceovers in disclosure text. This is not a romance sim — empathy choices exist, but many routes end grimly. See Endings FAQ for tone questions.

PC and Mac checklist

Before playing, confirm specs via System Requirements:

  • 64-bit Windows 10+ or macOS Big Sur+
  • 40 GB free disk space
  • Broadband connection for Steam validation

Integrated graphics suffice at minimum settings — FMV playback is video-heavy, not shader-heavy.

Where to go next

After Chapter 1, mark outcomes on the Demo Ending Checklist and read Choices and Consequences before replaying. Track news on Release Timeline as CineGame polishes content ahead of launch.
